about

Believe it or not, of the 3 new songs recorded for this project, this is the only one that made the cut. A strange one at that, as it was written in a couple of minutes when settling on the last few songs for the project. I use the term written pretty loosely, as I literary played it when recording a couple of songs to send Craig. It was kinda throwaway... the melody was there in my head + I just sang some words. A work in progress.

We listened to the voice memo at Craig's studio + we liked what we heard so it stuck. I attempted to replicate the tempo + melody, but it didn't go particularly well.

Like Lost in Space, what you hear here is Craig rebuilding it from the guide vocal. Getting the tempo + building a structure. My guitar was removed completely, as it was a bit shaky. The brief I gave him was that in my head I heard U2 w/Steve Stevens’ guitar. A proper 80's mainstream thing. Craig knocked it out the park.

lyrics

mind your heart
listen to your head
when you say its fallin' apart

mind the step
i tripped there before
went over on my ankle and said "i'll never do that again"

i never said this was gonna be easy
stuck at home w/the blues again
i never thought you could see right through me
i guess i never thought you'd care

mind your way
take care + travel well
this is not gonna end like this

read the note
before it's too late
i never said it'd be easy

i never said this was gonna be easy
stuck at home w/the blues again
i never thought you could see right through me
i guess i never thought you'd care
